Thailand is a beautiful country with a growing economy. I am half Thai and half Indian and grew up in the Bronx. I am fluent in English, Thai and Tamil. When the opportunity came up for me to emigrate to Thailand to become an English professor, I took it.
Thailand is a beautiful country, but we really recommend you buy a home in Chiang Mai. If you plan to move or immigrate here, you have found the right blog to learn more about this topic. So without further ado, let’s learn some things you should know before you emigrate to Chiang Mai.
1. About Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is literally translated to “New City,” famous for digital nomads. It is one of the deeply religious areas of the island, but today it coexists with co-working spaces and cafes and is the perfect place to immigrate, especially if you like living in a peaceful and quiet area.
Chiang Mai is located in the north of Thailand and is surrounded by mountainous regions. What is life like there? It is more relaxed and slower than Bangkok or even Phuket. I would settle there because it’s peaceful and ideal for a yoga retreat if you ask me.
It is also the perfect place for adventurous people. Since mountains surround it, you have access to many outdoor activities here, and it’s the ideal place for an adventurous area. You can go hiking, rock climbing, white water rafting and even camping here.
2. Lower Living Cost
Living costs are more than favorable here, no matter if you are planning to buy a summer home or plan a vacation. When compared to other Thai cities like Bangkok and Phuket, Chiang Mai is very affordable.
It is the place to be for people on a budget and if you want to invest in a growing city. Living in Chiang Mai cost twice as little as life in Bangkok does. It is the perfect city to retire to if you ask us. Not only is it peaceful, but the people there are also very welcoming and are filled with expats.
Before you start planning your move, make a budget and look into the cost of living. Personally, I live in Chiang Mai because I grew up in a city, and I feel most at home there. It reminds me of New York but with a more natural landscape. But where you live depends on you and your budget.
3. Strategic location
Chiang Mai is currently one of the best-situated cities in Thailand and gives you easy access to all the other cities through its lively public transport system. Thanks to Chiang Mai International Airport, it is also accessible from neighboring countries by air.
Because of this, it has become the central business hub for other cities and China and Thailand. This led to the construction of better and newer amenities, and some of the latest projects are:
- The Pilot Smart cities program
- Improved public transportation
- The high-speed railway from the city through Bangkok and China
4. Tourist destination
One of the main tourist attractions in Chiang Mai in the mountains and beautiful rain forests that people travel the globe to see. The temperature there is always ideal, and it never gets too cold, but the temperature sure rises in the summer.
These are some of the reasons investors should know before choosing their next investment location. Whether you want to create a hotel, vacation home, or retirement home, Chiang Mai is the place for you. In particular, Chiang Mai is one of the fastest-growing real estate markets.
